Matisse Grids
The fourth graders at Pleasant Ridge recreated paintings by Henri Matisse using the grid system. Each student was given a 1" by 1" square from a photo of the painting "Green Stripe". Students used oil pastel to mix and blend colors to match the colors, lines, and shapes. Then, all of the squares were put back together to recreate the image of the painting.
