The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is a program that recognizes students who demonstrate an interest in the visual arts and who want to bring art education to the attention of their school and their community. In the spring of 2012 this club was started by advisors, Cyndi Koppelman, Janet Hughes, and Adam Rodriquez in an effort to create a club for interested art students.
NAHS is similar to National Honor Society in that students
have to be of good academic standing, pay dues, attend chapter meetings, plan
school and community service activities and participate
in fund raising activities throughout the year.
The benefits of
joining this organization are many. Students share in cooperative art
activities, give back to their communities, and may earn awards and scholarships
through participating universities. NAHS is an organization created by the
National Art Education Association.
NAHS students have volunteered by:
--painting windows at
Liberty School for the day care program
--painting the mural at the high school
--helping to set up the Empty bowls event in February
--helping set up the Saline Arts Festival in May
--painted faces for Family Day at Mill Pond Park
--decorated the art courtyard by "yarn bombing" the trees
